We are currently undertaking training and capacity building with Indigenous land management organisations in the Lower Murray-Darling Basin who are engaged with water management planning and river health assessments, and Indigenous ranger groups in the Kimberley region who are using traditional burning practices as an environmental management and restoration tool.

WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY FOR LAND AND SEA MANAGEMENT

We have recently completed a process of fully automating all Work Health and Safety processes for ranger and land management groups, using readily available tablet based apps. These are tailored to the daily work programs and reporting needs of ranger groups, and can now be included in any mobile data collection training we are engaged on.

FISHERIES RESEARCH

We are currently working with fisheries management authorities in NSW to test the value of smartphone data collection for recording effort and catch data with recreational fishers across the state. This research is supported by the NSW Recreational Fishing Trust Fund.

We are currently working with the Indonesian Pole and Line and Handline Fisheries Association to establish key social and economic dynamics influencing the sustainability of Indonesia's small scale coastal tuna fisheries. This work is in partnership with researchers form the University of Technology Sydney, the Indonesian Institute of Sciences, and is supported by the Australian National University's Indonesia Project research grants program.

In September and October 2016 we are working with fishery managers and researchers from 12 countries across Africa, assisting to deliver an intensive fisheries and oceans governance course being run by the Australian National University and the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
